TOSSA'S BEACHES

Tossa's seascape is simply stunning. People from all over the world travel here to enjoy beaches that are clean, cosy and safe. During your stay with us your will have plenty of opportunities to experience this for yourself.

Welcome party

Already on the first night you will have a chance to show off your new flip flops during our beach party. You will get to know your fellow language travellers chilling out at the "chiringuito" (= Spanish beach bar) listening to your favourite music. And to make you feel even more welcome, the first drink's on us!

Beach volley

Beach volley has always been a hot favourite with all our travellers. After all, there's more to the beach than lying flat on your back all day. We organize various tournaments during which you can dive, jump and smash your way to glory. If you happen to be in the losing team, don't worry, there might just be a rematch before long.

Tossa's beaches:

Platja gran beach Tossa Tossa's main beach is called "Platja Gran" (literally: grand beach). It is very near the town centre, right on the doorstep of hundreds of bars and restaurants. This grand beach is where our beach volley tournaments take place or where you can enjoy an early morning Tai Chi session. Our boat trips also depart from "Platja Gran".

Es Codolar beach Tossa Our favourite beach, Es Codolar, used to be Tossa's old harbour. Nowadays it is a secluded cove with a backdrop of stunning cliffs. It is located just below the old wall encircling the medieval town centre and a few fishing boats can still be found here.

So, what it so special about this beach? Well, why don't you find out for yourself coming along to MyC's Welcome Party? See you there...

Mar Menuda beach Tossa Mar Menuda and Platja del Reig are two more lovely beaches a stone's throw away from the town centre. Just remember to pack your beach towel and your sun cream, you will need them..

Move your Class wants you to move your body playing football, tennis, basketball, volleyball,. to name just a few. The emphasis, however, is on recreation and fun. It doesn't matter if you've never kicked a ball in your life, as long as you take part with a healthy dose of enthusiasm.

All sports equipment will be made available to you and the sports facilities are top notch. Just make sure you pack your sneakers and sweatbands.

SPLASH! Adventures

trip to Splash AdventureThis unforgettable experience combines pure excitement and adventure with the opportunity of discovering Tossa's beautiful coastline, hidden coves and caves. At the same time you will be observing the wildlife and nature unique to this part of the Mediterranean. You will race the waves in this specially designed RIB (Power Boat). KARAOKE NIGHT

No better way to start the weekend than a collective sing along. With more than 38.000 songs to choose from, your favourite tune is waiting for your cords in Mick's mobile Karaoke bar.

CLIFF WALK/GLASS BOTTOM BOAT

The lush green hills surrounding Tossa are home to some exquisite Mediterranean vegetation. The whole area is ideal for hiking and one of the most beautiful walking paths leads us from the town centre to Giverola beach. On the way, you will get an opportunity to shoot your own Tossa-postcards, because the views are simply breathtaking. No wonder that the spectacular scenery in this part of Spain has often featured in movies and car ads.

Make sure you save some pictures for what comes next though: A glass bottom boat takes us back to Tossa and the crystal clear water allows for a mesmerizing glimpse of life under the sea.

CITY TRIP TO GIRONA

Girona looks like Catalunia's answer to Florence, with its stylish bridges and its majestic cathedral. Close to Barcelona, located midway between the sea and the mountains, Girona boasts a privileged position.

The Old Town is one of the most evocative historical centres in Catalonia, with certain elements that are unique in Europe: the Carolingian wall, an exceptionally well conserved Jewish quarter, and the grandeur of the Cathedral's Gothic nave, the widest in the world. Girona also has six museums which possess a patrimonial collection of great interest.

Definitely worth a visit!

CITY TRIP TO BARCELONA

Barcelona is arguably Spain's most exciting city. Actually, you will be hard pressed to find such an exhilarating mix of Modernist grandeur and old world splendour anywhere in Europe!

Move your Class offers you the best of Barcelona in 1 day. A bilingual guide will take you on a historic tour of the city and after lunch you can enjoy the city at your own pace. If shopping is your thing, this is the place for you.

Architecture

Barcelona claims to have the biggest collection of modernist buildings anywhere in Europe. Most of these Art Nouveau gems, many by world famous architects, can be found in the Eixample district. The most famous of them all is Antoní Gaudí. As Barcelona's foremost ambassador he has left us a legacy of extraordinary buildings, parks and sculptures all over town. You will be able to admire most of his innovative, intriguing designs on our historic tour of the city.

Not to be missed: the Sagrada Familia cathedral: Designed by Gaudí more than a century ago, work on this controversial temple is still in progress today.

El Barrio Gótico (the Gothic Quarter)

Centuries before modernism took hold of the new part of the city, Barcelona was already a thriving Mediterranean port. After all, the Catalan capital used to be the seat of the Crown of Aragon, an expanding maritime empire stretching as far away as Greece. The oldest neighbourhood around the cathedral (from Roman times) dates back to this era, when the Counts of Barcelona ruled in all their splendour. Today we can still explore an intricate maze of medieval squares and alleyways that can compete with Europe's finest.

Not to be missed: A walk around the cathedral will take you back more than a thousand years in an instant.

La Barceloneta and the beach

A city with its own beach is always something special. If instead of hotels and apartments you get an authentic fishing village to go with it, you know you are in Barcelona. The little peninsula of La Barceloneta, in between the Old Port and the zoo, hasn't lost a bit of its working class ardour. All its little bars, colourful tenement blocks, lovely churches and old factories are surrounded by a lovely beach. I guess you have to check it out for yourself in order to truly absorb the old worldly charm of it all. So what are you waiting for?

Not to be missed: A stroll over el Passeig de Joan de Borbó with its bustling restaurants and bars. From here you can start exploring La Barceloneta or head for the beach around the corner.

Let's go Shopping!

Barcelona is certainly among Europe's cities of style. It is a natural magnet for the fashion-conscious and there is no shortage of design outlets for even the most tireless consumer. Everything from books to jewels, from haute couture (local and international) to designer furniture, is on offer. Several markets animate squares around the centre of town. The best shopping areas in central Barcelona are Passeig de Gracia and the streets to its southwest, including the Bulevard Rosa arcade just north of Carrer d'Arago, and Barri Gotic streets such as Carrer de la Portaferrissa, Carrer de la Boqueria, Carrer del Call, Carrer de la Llibreteria and Carrer de Ferran, and around Placa de Sant Josep Oriol.

Not to be missed: the Ramblas of Barcelona. Sensory overload guaranteed walking down one of Europe's finest boulevards. Watch your purse and camera, though, for it can get very crowded on the Ramblas.
